Vanilla planifolia vareigated. This is the yellow variegated variety of the Vanilla orchid of commerce. Vanilla spice comes from the cured pod of this vining orchid. The Vanilla orchid is terrestrial, and grows in a loose, well-draining, soil mix. This vine has oblong succulent leaves that are variegated with yellow stripes. The flowers are a greenish yellow and only develop on mature plants. This orchid is easy to grow if given bright light. Grow it in the average home or greenhouse as a novelty.

Shade to partial shade, temp. 50 to 95 degrees, will vine or staked will grow to 10 to 15 ft. tall. Allow to getslightly dry between waterings.
