A star groundcover for shady areas! Flowers add a lovely splash of white to shade gardens, and foliage is attractive. Low, mounding habit. Semi-evergreen, so leaves may persist through mild winters. Will runner in favorable conditions to form a dense groundcover. Prefers medium, well drained soils rich in absorbent organics.

Notable Wildlife Interactions: Little data available. Hosts one species of aphid. Foliage is browsed by ruffled grouse, and mice feed on seeds.

Notes: T. cordifolia has recently been split into a species complex (T austrina. T. cordifolia, T. nautila, T. stolonifera and T. wherryi). These species are visually difficult to distinguish, have overlapping ranges, and hybridize in the wild. Our growers currently do not differentiate between these species, so we cannot either.
