Known by the common names Evening Scented Primrose or Evening Primrose. It is easily recognizable as a tall plant with a central stalk covered with bright yellow 2.5 to 5 cm (1- 2) wide cup-shaped flowers which open late in the day. The seeds produced by the plant attract finches and other small birds. This species performs well in average to dry soil with full sun to partial shade and is often one of the first plants to colonize bare open patches. Plants grow between 60-120 cm (2-4) in height. Annual that re-seeds without becoming invasive.
