China Lady ‘Orchis’ is a selected clonal form within this cross, chosen for flower shape, color intensity and fragrance. This hybrid is intended for indoor, greenhouse or greenhouse cultivation and performs well with adequate light and heat.
The plant grows sympodially with sturdy, upright pseudobulbs and leathery leaves. From mature shoots develops a flower cluster with one to three flowers about 10-12 cm large. The flower color is usually intense crimson to deep pink, with a contrasting, often wavy lip in purple or burgundy. The flower shape is broad and full, with well-opened petals. The flowers are lightly fragrant, especially during the day. In optimal conditions, the plant may flower once or twice a year.
Provide plenty of bright, indirect light. A spot near an east- or south-facing window (with filtering) is ideal. Light is crucial for bud formation and vigorous growth.
Between 18 C and 28 C. Nighttime cooling to about 15 C is well tolerated, but avoid cold snap or drafts.
Use an airy orchid bark mix based on medium bark, possibly supplemented with a little coconut or charcoal. Provide adequate ventilation around the roots.

During the growing period (spring to fall), feed every 1 to 2 weeks with diluted orchid fertilizer. In winter, this can be reduced to once a month.
Allow the substrate to dry thoroughly between waterings. Give preferably in the morning and avoid stagnant water in the leaf axils. Use demineralized water for best results.
Flowering usually appears in spring or late summer, depending on the growth cycle. The flowers often last 2-3 weeks and can be a real show both visually and fragrantly. Do not cut away the flowering stem until it has dried completely.
