The African Fig has dense, luscious, deep green foliage with large, leathery, tumbler-shaped leaves. It is a vigorous species of Ficus and can tolerate dry air and shady conditions better than others. Its dark, flaky bark gives rise to its alternative common name of Birchbark Fig, and it’s twisted stem feature adds to its statement feel with minimal effort.
