Monolena primuliflora is an epiphytic plant native to the tropical rainforests of Ecuador and Peru. It develops a distinctive swollen caudex from which broad, ovate leaves emerge, and produces delicate flowers ranging from pale pink to magenta.

In its natural habitat, Monolena primuliflora is believed to engage in a mutualistic relationship with ants (myrmecophytic). The plant provides shelter within its caudex, while the ants contribute nutrients through their waste.
