Planting Instructions: Scarify Whiteleaf Manzanita seeds by lightly sanding or nicking the seed coat to break their hard outer layer. Sow seeds about twice as deep as their width in a well-drained, sterile medium like peat moss and sand. Mimic natural fire exposure by covering seed flats with a few inches of pine needles and carefully burning the surface, or refrigerate scarified seeds moist for 60 days before planting. Germination can take several months to up to a year, so patience is needed.
Sunlight & Soil: Prefers full sun to partial sun and well-drained, dry, rocky or sandy soil. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Watering Tips: Water moderately, avoid waterlogging; drought tolerant once established but young plants need some moisture.
Best Season to Grow: Plant scarified seeds in fall or early spring to coincide with natural cycles.
Harvesting Info: Start seedlings in pots and grow for 1-2 years before transplanting; space plants at least 4 feet apart to allow mature growth.
