Hoya ‘Nova Ghost’ is a distinctive and rare cultivar within the hoya’s, known for its almost silvery leaf color and waxy, star-shaped flowers. Its unique leaf markings and elegant growth form make it a popular species among collectors of unusual houseplants.
Although the exact origin of this cultivar is not fully established, it is believed that Hoya ‘Nova Ghost’ is a selection or cross within the Hoya carnosa-groep. These plants are native to Southeast Asia, where they grow as epiphytes in forests with plenty of shade, high humidity and good air circulation.
What makes Nova Ghost} so special are its leaves: these are oval to oblong, fleshy, and often silver-gray or silver-green in color, with an almost ghostly sheen – hence the name “Ghost.” As the plant ages or receives more light, a subtle green or pink glow may appear in the leaves. With proper care, the plant produces fragrant, star-shaped flowers in compact umbels (umbels), usually white with a pink center.
Hoya ‘Nova Ghost’ is relatively easy to care for, as long as the basic requirements are followed properly.
