Selaginella is a soft, ethereal, ferny looking type of moss, sharing the trait of ferns to make spores to reproduce. Native to African tropical evergreen forests, it carpets the forest floor densely in the very humid deep shade. Fan-shaped forking fronds in bright, light green with paler tips and ghostly white veining send down to the soil tentative, delicate white stems searching for new soil to settle. These rootlike stems help the plant to roam and will eventually turn into real stems when they’re confident they found a good neighborhood.
