8″ Ficus Lyrata

The musical name Lyrata refers to the lyre-shaped, or violin/fiddle-shaped outline of the leaves of this ever-popular plant. This big, strong, flowering fig from West Africa rapidly grows into an imposing 50′ tall tree in the ground, and into a big, robust, strongman of a specimen in our homes. Shiny, crispy/leathery leaves of medium green with fuzzy/felty undersides sporting yellow veins grow on shaggy brown stems, reaching out everywhere. Unruly branches can be pruned for a more reasonable shape; in fact, the Ficus Lyrata is trimmed and trained on purpose in several styles. Bushes, straight columns, bare-trunked standard trees, and more. Choose your shaping style to fit your space.
