6″ Calathea Beauty Star XL

This Beauty Star is a gorgeous Calathea with larger leaves than most Calatheas. Wiry, green stems support big, oval leaves with softy curving, pointed tips reaching up to the sky, then slowly levelling down to horizontal. Growing quickly to a height of 2′, this beauty also adds little baby plants at her feet, growing fuller all the time. The gorgeous leaves are a deep, pine green washed down the center with vibrant lime green brushed away on either side of the midrib. Completing the show are pinky white lines sweeping out from the center vein pointing to the leaf edges. Underleaves peek out in purple when the plant folds its leaves at night, made possible by a special small joint in the leaf where it joins the stem. A charming habit shared by Marantas, Ctenanthes and Calatheas, all relatives. Fun to watch!
