Platycerium willinckii Native to the tropical forests of Indonesia, where it grows as an epiphyte high in the trees. With its unique, antler-like leaves, it captures light and rainwater, while the saucer-shaped base leaves adhere to the tree bark. The ‘Nano’ selection was developed in culture to emphasize its compact nature, making this particular species suitable for smaller collection sites as well.
Like its larger relatives, the Platycerium willinckii ‘Nano’ two types of leaves: the flat shield leaves that grow as a protective rosette around the base, and the gracefully branched fertile leaves that closely resemble deer antlers. In ‘Nano’ these leaves are finer and smaller in size, but with the same distinctive silver-green glow that characterizes willinckii. This gives the plant an elegant, sculptural appearance.
Lots of bright, indirect light is ideal. A bright spot without direct afternoon sun gives the most beautiful silvery leaf color.
Warm and stable: 18-28 C during the day, preferring constant warmth.
This species is usually mounted on wood or cork. A small amount of moss at the base helps retain moisture, but the roots need to breathe well.
A humidity of 60-80% is desired. Regular spraying helps keep the plant in top condition.

Give only demineralized water. Mist the leaves and water at the base so it can slowly soak into the roots. Let dry in between to prevent root rot.
