This orchid was originally found in the mountains of New Guinea and first described in 1906. Some synonyms of this species are: Dendrobium flavispiculum, Oxyglossellum cyanocentrum, Pedilonum cyanocentrum, Pedilonum lapeyrouseoides, Dendrobium lapeyrouseoides and Pedilonum flavispiculum.
This orchid gets beautiful fairy purple flowers with brighter purple stripes in the petals. What makes this miniature orchid special is the slightly fragrant characteristic of the flowers. It is also a winter bloomer, which can flower in late winter or early spring. The orchid is named for the beautiful blue-purple center of the flower.
Caution! This orchid was recently imported. It takes some patience for the roots to recover. Fortunately, with proper attention and knowledge, it is not difficult to grow this special Dendrobium reestablishment. So we do not recommend this species for beginners at the moment.
This orchid likes high humidity, but in winter the orchid may be a bit drier. Make sure that the Dendrobium cyanocenter never dries up completely, but leave the orchid only slightly moist between waterings. In addition, make sure there is plenty of fresh air supply and movement.
