This hybrid comes from the Thai Jairak-selection, a breeding line that focuses on compact Cattleya types with rich flowering and long shelf life. Jairak Cute was selected for her soft pastel tones and harmonious flower form, making her a popular choice among both novice and experienced collectors.
The plant grows sympodially with short pseudobulbs and firm, leathery leaves. The flowers are ca. 7-9 cm in diameter and range in color from soft pink to pale lilac, often with a prominent yellow or orange throat in the lip. Flowering is lightly fragrant and can occur several times a year when properly cared for.
Lots of bright, indirect light. A bright location with morning or filtered afternoon light encourages rich blooms.
18-28 C during the day, with slight cooling at night to about 15 C.
An airy orchid mix with medium bark, possibly combined with coconut chips or charcoal. Re-pot every 2-3 years.
50-70% humidity is ideal. Good air circulation is important to prevent leaf and root problems.
During the growing period, feed weekly with diluted orchid fertilizer (- strength). In winter, once a month is sufficient.
Allow the substrate to dry thoroughly between waterings. Give preferably in the morning with demineralized water or possibly rainwater. Tap water does not like this species.
Blooms one or more times a year. Flowers last for 1 to 2 weeks and have a soft, pleasant fragrance.
