Arbutus unedo (Strawberry Tree)

This bushy evergreen tree is referred to as the Irish Strawberry Tree. The name reflects the characteristics of the orange strawberry-like fruits. The word unedo means I eat one. This doesnt refer to the fact they are poisonous, simply that they are so bland you would only want to try one! A natural distribution across southern Spain and Portugal.
