The Hibiscus coccineus cv. RED TEXAS is a bold, sculptural perennial celebrated for its dazzling, deep scarlet-red, star-shaped flowers that resemble finely-cut velvet. A cultivar of the native Scarlet Rose Mallow, this vigorous herbaceous plant reaches heights of up to 2.4 meters (8 feet), making it a commanding presence in any garden. Its palmately-lobed leaves, reminiscent of cannabis foliage, create a dramatic silhouette even when the plant is not in bloom. The luminous blooms, often 1520 cm across, emerge in late summer and continue into early autumn, drawing pollinators such as hummingbirds and butterflies. The cultivar RED TEXAS distinguishes itself with intensely saturated red tones, even more vivid than the standard species, and robust upright stems that resist flopping. It thrives in moist conditions and is particularly striking in rain gardens, pond edges, or wildflower borders. With its exotic allure and architectural form, Hibiscus coccineus RED TEXAS is a must-have for collectors of rare ornamental flowering plants.
