Beta vulgaris

Cylindrical variety with smooth dark red roots up to 20cm long. Tender and sweet flavour. Cylindra beetroot is the perfect variety for bottling sliced beetroot because it doesn’t get to big making the slices the perfect size. Popular root vegetable, fast growing, bi-annual, easy to grow. Use in salads, cooked or preserved. Sow direct in garden, 60 days to maturity. Keep moist in fertile, well drained soil.

Sow all year except in hot weather.
