Dwarf Russian Swirl Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a determinate dwarf variety developed through the Dwarf Tomato Project, prized for its medium to large, flattened beefsteak-type fruits. Their red-and-orange marbled skin creates an elegant variegated effect that adds beautiful ornamental value to small vegetable gardens, patio containers, and summer plates. Its juicy, tender, colourful flesh offers a mild, balanced flavour with a gentle touch of acidity. Grown as an annual in Canada, it reaches up to 1.4 m (4.5 ft) tall and matures in mid-season, approximately 75 to 85 days after transplanting.

Dwarf Russian Swirl Tomato thrives in full sun in rich, fertile, loose, well-drained soil amended with mature compost before planting. Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost at an ideal temperature of 22 to 26C (72 to 79F), then transplant seedlings outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Space plants 50 to 60 cm (20 to 24 in) apart to maintain good air circulation. Although its growth habit is compact and determinate, a stake or lightweight tomato cage is recommended to support the heavy fruits and keep the harvest clean.

In the garden, this tomato is ideal for small spaces, raised beds, urban vegetable gardens, and containers of at least 15 L (4 gal) placed in full sun. It grows well alongside basil, parsley, onions, lettuce, and nectar-rich annual flowers that attract pollinators and bring more life to the growing space. Its marbled fruits are excellent in colourful salads, gourmet sandwiches, tomato carpaccio, fresh platters, and elegant culinary presentations. Dwarf Russian Swirl allows gardeners to harvest large, decorative, flavourful tomatoes from a plant that is easier to manage than a traditional indeterminate variety.
