An ancient vegetable with a diverse history, it is commonly acknowledged that it was the work of 16th-century Dutch and Italian gardeners that we are to thank for the vibrant red button radishes we use to adorn our salads to this day. These horticulturists deliberately chose and cultivated radishes with petite, spherical roots, shaping the familiar and versatile vegetable we grow and enjoy enjoy in our 21st Century gardens and cuisine.
